Purple Heart Family Support™ From MarineParents.com

Thank You from Marines and Volunteers

“What your organization brings to the barracks is…important. You are there every week. We know and love you guys, and you bring that touch of home to us all. You're all our parents away from home.”

-Wounded Warrior

"We hear so much appreciation from our Wounded Warriors, not only in their words, but in their eyes, their smiles, and hugs. We never know who we'll touch. We can't heal them, but we can be there to support and listen to them."

-Joyce, West Coast Manager

"Thanks for everything you guys do for us, we appreciate everything."

-Wounded Warrior

Currently, two meals are delivered monthly to Bethesda and Balboa. As funding increases, we hope to add more hospitals to the program. If you would like to make a donation to help support the cost of our monthly dinners, use the "Donations" link to the left. Thanks to all our Purple Heart Family Support™ benefactors. Our Wounded Warriors appreciate your dedication!

Through our unique programs, Purple Heart Family Support™ creates avenues of solace for Wounded Warriors and for their families by providing fellowship, encouraging networking and communication, and nourishing a healthy understanding of a Purple Heart Marine’s and family’s road to recovery.

The Purple Heart Family Support™ program, East and West Coast Wounded Warrior Meals, has proudly served over 6,000 meals to injured servicemen and to the families waiting at their bedsides since its start in 2007. Our dedicated volunteers serve meals once each month at each location, and even coordinate activities and field trips for our Wounded Warriors on the weekends meals aren’t being served. Although Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland and the Wounded Warrior Barracks a.k.a. Balboa in San Diego, California are our current program locations, we hope to expand our services to other military hospitals around our nation as funding through donations increases.

The Purple Heart Family Support™ Learning Center offers information pertaining to ill or injured servicemen so that no family feels overwhelmed during their time of need. Definitions of terms, procedures for notification, links to military hospitals, and even information regarding Invitational Travel Orders can be found here. The Learning Center can be the catalyst for Marine families to implement successful action plans in the event that their Marine is wounded in combat. They will have a better idea of what questions to ask and who to contact to receive as much information as possible.

Because the Marine Corps is the smallest branch of the U.S. Military, the Marine Corps family is very proud and supportive. For any Purple Heart family struggling or just simply wanting to share their journey, you will find other Purple Heart families willing to offer wisdom and comfort on Marine Parents’ Wounded in Action/ Purple Heart Recipients Message Board. The message boards offer a place for Purple Heart families to Connect and Share™ allowing for a more rapid and complete healing process.

Soon to come is the Marine Parents Purple Heart Journal. Many times while Marines are in the hospital, they are flooded with important medical information that needs to be catalogued, and receive aid from medical staff and family that needs to be documented. The already complete journal is a detailed wellness guide equipped to promote healing while also securing all medical information needed for later insurance purposes. The Purple Heart journal will become available once contributions needed to cover publishing and distributing are met.

If your family is currently coping with your ill or injured Marine, let Purple Heart Family Support™ be there for you. We can't heal your Wounded Warrior, but we can be there to support and listen to you. If you have a heart for our Wounded Warriors and their families who have sacrificed for our country, Purple Heart Family Support™ would love your help. As a program almost exclusively run by volunteers and donator contributions, we are always willing to accept your support. Links to the left allow you to either make a donation or contact us regarding volunteering.
